Frank's Quilt (in loving memory)

This quilt was created using the pattern "Quilt Interrupted" from "Phenomenal fat quarter quilts" by M'Liss Rae Hawley. I would absolutely recommend this book for useful guidelines and ideas for all the fat quarters that quilters tend to collect.

The back of the quilt better details the quilting decision I made. You can see on the front the use of the black fabric as a lattice and I simply didn't want to sew straight lines across it so there was more stopping and starting in this one.

This quilt was started when my friend became pregnant with her second baby. What no one could have anticipated was Frank passing away 22 weeks into the pregnancy. Despite how emotional it was; I was actually more motivated to complete this quilt in a timely manner for both him and his family.

Sweet boy, this quilt is for your loving family and in your memory.

  1. Jesus Sam, that is the sweetest thing ever. I haven't had the guts to open up the quilt yet and seeing it, knowing how hard you worked on it, and reading what you had to say was the kindest, sweetest thing ever. Thank you so much. The Frankster would have loved it.

  2. Oh thank you. There is no rush to open it; it is when the time is right for you. I can only imagine how tough it would be to unroll it and know that you can't wrap Frank in it. I am truly honored to have made it for him.
