Odd Jobs

While looking for work I have been able to pick up "odd jobs" from some friends as well. My latest one is a sewing project.

Right now I am sewing for My 3 Little Ducks Custom Weighted Products. Specifically I am working on blankets. This is a twin size (I believe). I have done the side seams and then laid it out to mark channels for sewing.

These channels will later be filled with pellets for weight.

Emile is exceptionally excited to see the sewing cardboard coming out.

Perhaps I should just give him back my journals.

I also am on a serious sugar kick. Sometimes it is better for me just to go with it as long as I am also eating healthy otherwise.

These are Peanut Butter Gingerbread Chocolate Chunk Cookies:

I followed the recipe except for doubling the ginger. It seemed like a good idea at the time and I stand by it, but lets just say the finished product is much stronger than the dough. :) Fortunately I love ginger and it is good for my jittery stomach.

Back to sewing and writing (yet another project, but I am enjoying it).

  1. Those cookies look delicious although I might like them better with the lesser amount of ginger. What a nice marriage of some of my favorite flavors.

Glad to see you are able to find some work too.

    1. It is definitely too much ginger if you double it like I did. Go with the recipe amount. :) I went a little light on the sugar with no problem as well. Maybe reduce the soda...I can't decide on that one due to the over-powering ginger. :)

Thanks, every little bit counts right now. Sam

  2. Peanut butter and ginger sounds really good (although I find that ginger cookies can "burn" a bit..so I probably wouldn't double it.

    1. Yes...don't. LOL. Even for me that likes the bite/burn it was a bit excessive. :)

  4. They are VERY good. Don't double the ginger like me. :) A lot of people added a bit of molasses and I think that would be really good as well.

  5. I love the way Emile is looking at you. Glad you have some odd jobs while on your hunt. Those cookies look delicious. I'm always on a sugar kick. And this time of the year my mom doesn't help as she makes containers full of cookies for me.

    1. I know. So innocent. Grrr!

Me too. I love my sugar and desserts. When it gets bad is when I could forgo all healthy eating and live on cookies. That does me no favors. ;)

    2. At my age, all it does is add to the belly fat...which tends to run in my family. If you need more sugar I'll mail you some of my mom's cookies, just let me know. :)

    3. LOL. We all know that I make a ton of cookies. :) And yes, sugar goes to the gut faster than about anything I think. Fortunately when I bake for myself I cut sugar but for some reason it is really powdered sugar that can be a vice for me. And it is bad around this time of year.
