Good frozen morning! My friends and I are comparing notes on who's pipes are frozen and equally important: how our birds are holding out.
I had far less Wrens last night which made me worry. The ones I did have really let me have it I went out the front door (where they are all roosting naturally) at 4am to deal with the well house in hopes of getting my water going again.
The hummingbirds are really bossy right now and territorial about the feeders (can you see the floating ice?). I am feeling a touch inferior right now because this morning I looked at a local news site's submitted photos of some elaborate hummingbird shelter set-ups.
It is amazing my birds put up with me at all.
Since I have water in a detached out building this morning I know the well pump isn't frozen, but getting water to my main house is going to take an act of nature at this point. We are all eagerly waiting.
Wow you sure are having water trouble. I hope by now you have some water running in your house. You are too funny about feeling inferior about taking care of your hummingbirds. I say why aren't they further south by now? That is where they should be so they should be grateful for whatever you give them ;-)

Hi there - no luck. I probably won't get running water until the temperature drops. Wherever it is frozen coming into the house I can't seem to thaw. My detached office still has running water and I am keeping those facets running to try and keep that option for now. We are just so cold. But from the sounds of it so in New York!
DeleteI guess some of the hummingbirds around here don't leave. I definitely am not seeing one of the colors that I saw in the summer. You should have seen this one lady's set-up! It was amazing.

Brrrr, and so sorry you are dealing with the water thing! But wanted to offer belated congrats on finishing up the accounting certificate, that's AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jan! It has definitely been a big deal to me and I am glad to have it done. Sam
DeleteHope everything is going as good as it can be in you weather, and you are safe! I'd still trade with you any day. Still in the 80's here.
ReplyDeleteSigh. 80s. It would be nice to even have that as a break I think. We are back into the 40s which feels better than it was, but not by much. :)
