Recycling and Laundry

Somehow I forgot to publish my all important Tea Vessel post from the other night so tonight will be a double post night. My tea vessel went out in public today by the way and people commented on it.

In other news I got a new recycling bin. I don't know what possessed Rabanco to decide that a household that often has one single bag of garbage weekly and a single 32 gallon recycling every TWO weeks would need a 94 gallon recycling container.

Yes, that would be my long driveway in the background. I currently haul my garbage and recycling down with a wheel barrow. Even if my truck was still working I wouldn't be able to lift this recycling bin into the bed. I wonder if when they dropped this off and saw my driveway if even an ounce of sympathy crossed their hearts. Major Bummer.

Nim had a good day today because my washer machine is broke. He isn't thrilled with all days no longer revolving around him. But as luck would have it, I got home after tax preparing and had to run right back out to the laundry mat to wash every last towel I owned. This means Nim got an evening out on the town.

That is Mount Si in the background. Our snow level is low and at that particular moment, while cold, we even had a break in the rain.

Have a good evening!

  1. And I thought we had a long driveway! At least ours is fairly flat and paved. We could use a bigger recycling box but not that big. How did Nim like the big noisy machines at the laundromat?

    1. It is overkill for me. :) Nim actually was just so darn happy to be out and about and in new places. He seems to take most of that stuff in stride.

  2. Oh shoot, the recycling bin sounds like a horrible hassle! Hmm, maybe Nim could be trained to harness himself up and drag it out there? OK, I'm guessing there MAY be some limits to what dog training can achieve. :)

    1. I think some dogs would actually enjoy it, but not Nim. :)

  3. Apparently they only make one size recycling bin. You could just bring it out once a month, to save the hassle. It probably wouldn't get full before then anyway, right?
I've seen the folk that deliver these bins..................nary a thought.

    1. I have thought about it. It is frustrating because my bill just took a big jump too. I am worried it might get too heavy if I wait a month, but we will see.

  4. Good point! Along the lake road I've seen folk bungee the bins to the back of their cars and slowly drive it up their driveways.

    1. If you saw the rental I have right now because the jeep is so badly broken you would realize why this comment made me laugh. I went for the cheapest (smallest) car. The recycling bin may actually have better clearance and would probably make the car do a wheelie if I attached it.

I am waiting for the day you say, "New Car".

  6. I think that is a common size for recycle bins now. We have small ones still, but my parents have large ones like that which are newer than mine but they also live in a different county. I can't believe it doesn't have wheels, btw!

It looks so beautiful where you are. You're so lucky.

    1. It actually does have wheels, but trust me, on this driveway that won't be of much help.

I really am lucky. Even when we have extreme days it is nothing like the weeks that some of the other areas of the world experience.
