We have a fire going on Mt. Si. right now that has been going since Friday. The helicopter is pulling water from the river across the street from me and going back and forth to dump loads. The fire is close enough to make the air quality bad and for me to be a little uneasy, but I also know the chances of it getting close or me having to evacuate are next to none.
This flowers are on one of my cucumbers. Pretty!
I have two more solid weeks of homework with everything coming due as of August 11th and I have finals week after that. Counting down is literally getting me through the quarter.
My sister gave Nim this toy bee. It has a very loud squeaker for such a small toy. Have a great night!

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are safe from the fire, but I would probably get a headache from so many helicopters. I guess it would be a little easier to take knowing they are trying to stop the fire.
Nim looks like he is up to no good with that bee.

DeleteI also find that constant helicopters actually almost makes a stress response. I think it is just all the noise, but it makes you very alert.

ReplyDeleteI know! And to make matters worse, they aren't cucumbers, the are borage. I was told to plant them near the cucumbers to help them grow (they have some encouragement relationship...I am finding out there is a lot of that in gardening) but after close scrutiny and the help of a friend, we figured out my cucumbers are buried underneath!
DeleteI am still looking into it since I forgot. It is an herb. I can eat the leaves and the flowers although I think there is a vegetable that might happen too. I am a bit confused on that part actually.
Glad you guys are doing ok. I see now that they're saying the fire is "50% contained" but when we drove by this afternoon there was only one small plume of smoke coming off the mountain, a huge decrease from the previous morning.
