I have a really fond memory of my first Earth Day celebration. I was in college at the University of Washington. Reading the history of Earth Day, it looks like it has been around a lot longer than that, but I certainly don't remember doing anything at school for it like they do now.
Maybe I need to get a garden start today. I won't be able to plant today, so I can do my celebrating later in the week. :)
Happy Earth Day to all of you too! Thanks for sharing your beautiful Rhodies. We are heading into a cool spell for a while so I think anything that was thinking of blooming might slow down for a while.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe you have snow!!!!
DeleteHappy Earth Day! Even without plants, there is plenty to do to start the garden. I feel like I have been working like crazy, and all I have growing is kale, because it stands up to deer, elk and dogs!
ReplyDeleteI probably should at least plant some lettuce for the bunnies. :) Ha!
DeleteDon't you remember the canvas Earth Day bags from the Community School?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I can't remember that at all!
DeleteI am looking for one of the bags to I can show you ;)
ReplyDeleteSO I can show you ;)
ReplyDeleteHow sad, I totally spaced it out and I have to confess it's kinda dropped off my radar even though it's more important than ever!
ReplyDeleteI had a vague recollection of our school recognizing it back in the 1970's-- googled and found an old newspaper clipping and yep, from the very first year in 1970! But then I did go to sort of a hippy school in the SF bay area. :)
Thanks for the reminder!
You have had a crazy year...you will get on it next year. Who knows where you will be settled at that time.
