Injured Shoulder

Today we went to an orthopedic specialist to address Nim's continued limp. It appears to be in the shoulder and at a minimum he needs 2 weeks of no activity.

My house is basically like a small studio. Everything is open and accessible. Thankfully no stairs, but part of his restriction is no on and off the bed. So I barricaded off the bed.

Then I tried to study.

Then I took apart the bed and put the darn mattress on the floor. Emile is in hiding, Nim has gotten on the mattress once and is now in the living room sulking.

As usual, Leela doesn't much care.

  1. Oh No! Two weeks of no activity? Good luck keeping you and Nim from going crazy. I would have done the same thing with the bed. Couldn't bear to not have the pup sleeping with us. Millie will keep her paws crossed that Nim heals quickly and doesn't drive you and the cats nuts. LOL!

    1. I know! He can look like a much smaller dog than he actually is.

  3. Oh no! Sending well wishes to Nim! I sure hope he heals and you don't need to do anything further. I can't imagine how hard it will be to keep him calm for 2 weeks. I love that you put your mattress on the floor. I told my husband we need to do this because Lucas can't jump on our bed anymore, and sometimes my back can't take lifting his rear up 20 times a day on the bed. Well wishes to your sweetie!!

    1. Oh thanks Linda! At least Lucas waits for help. :) But yes, the lifting is a lot. Even Rusty was about 55 lbs and I had to lift him constantly. It reminded me really quickly to lift proper.

The mattress on the floor is weird for the human body I think (mostly in getting up and down). In my house I have to worry more about the moisture and the cold on the floor (and mold) but I am guessing that is not as big of an issue in Florida. They do have those really low profile bed frames and I have been thinking about them in the past. I am just glad I don't have stairs.
