Mystery Quilt 2013 - Top finished

Not a lot of homework happened today, but the quilt top is done!

Once I got it laid out I had to race the cats to get it sewn together.

Interestingly this quilt photographs "better" than I see it in person. I think it is one of those quilts in which you can see the pattern better from a distance and I stand on a chair to take the photo.

Some close-ups of blocks of the finished top:

  1. It looks great! I think you are right about it looking better from afar. When you are too close you don't see all the block patterns and how they work together.

I have to admit that when you were first cutting and putting units together I didn't think it looked that good, but when it is all put together it looks great. I guess that is the fun part of the mystery.

    1. I totally didn't think it would come out so good either! I still did better with the colors last year, but I am content with this one and it gave me a great outlet this weekend. I think it will be helpful to get a really nice backing on it.

It is the fun part of the mystery...although there have been some hug failures. :) I think it is why many of us have a "stash only" rule.

  2. Wow. That's beautiful. I have some memories of trying to wrap presents with kitty cats around, can't even imagine trying to work with a quilt!

    1. Oh man...I swear they come running when the cardboard comes out. They totally liked to slide across it and scatter fabric. It is chaos.
