Good Friday

Good Friday everyone! This has been a really great Lent season for me and I am looking forward to a relaxing Easter Sunday.

Nim and I are WAY off schedule and overtired right now. But I didn't want to miss a Good Friday post! The following are some organizations in my heart and on my mind right now:

Old Dog Haven. In my dream world I have the stability and the living arrangement to take in a senior dog again. Senior pets have a tendency to get abandoned/surrendered for very different and heartbreaking (frustrating) reasons than the younger ones.

Point Foundation. "Point Foundation provides scholarships, mentorship, leadership training and hope for students of merit who have been marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. " The speaker I was listening to told a really amazing account from a young man that didn't even care about not winning the scholarship because he still gained in the support and connection that simply are not available to him where he is living.

The Karanambu Trust. The trust is new, Diane McTurk and the giant otters are not. I have had this bookmarked for literally years as a dream experience. (Except for some massive reservations about the large spiders of the area. Like really large. Some reviews were put off by the bats...I could care less about bats in my hut. Large spiders on the other hand...)

Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale. Don't forget to enjoy this one. In the Seattle area, both Sidecar for Pigs Peace (weekend of April 21st) and the Chocolate Shoebox (weekend of April 28th) will be hosting bake sales. My priority will be Sidecar because I love supporting Pigs Peace Sanctuary. They are hoping to have a piglet make an appearance at the bake sale. Both establishments are super friendly and non-intimidating places to enter even if you are not vegan.

Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

  1. Pretty flowers. And I agree about taking in an older, neglected animal. It breaks my heart to see the elder animals passed over for younger ones. For me I want to bring home an elder cat one day soon. Don't tell M!!!

  3. I think Old Dog Haven is great. They are definitely an organization (network) that I love to support.

That is great you are considering an elder cat. :) Cats are so fickle anyway and some of them have been passed around way even easier than dogs are. I hope you find your perfect rescue. :)
